What does reindex destination do?

The Reindex Destination option in JetBackup scans the selected backup destination to rebuild the index of available backups.

When you click “Reindex” for a selected destination in JetBackup > Destinations it does following things -

  • Scans the destination for existing backup files.
  • Updates the backup list in the JetBackup interface.
  • Rebuilds metadata about the backups (such as creation date, size, and type). -️ Helps resolve issues where backups exist in the storage but aren’t showing in the panel.

Once you receive the success notification, the process is added to the JetBackup > Queue for further execution.
